Fayrouz Yousfi

School of Society and Environment, Queen Mary University of London
Fayrouz Yousfi is a Postdoctoral Research Associate working with Dr Carlo Inverardi-Ferri on the ERC-funded Illicit Labor project. Her research examines how Morocco’s solar-energy transition, from photovoltaic manufacturing to large-scale projects such as Noor, reshapes labor, land, and natural resources. It explores how green development can reinforce precarity, dispossession, and global inequalities behind sustainability narratives. Fayrouz holds a PhD in Political Science from Ghent University. Her doctoral research investigated women farmworkers’ mobilization in southern Morocco amid neoliberal agricultural restructuring, precarity, and union decline, showing how political agency and collective action emerge beyond formal institutions in the neoliberal countryside.
