CRiTICAL Lab is an interdisciplinary research group that looks at the ways in which climate change, ecological crises, and state and non-state actors’ responses to address them are transforming relations between nature, economies, and societies. Bringing together scholars from economic geography, political ecology, political sociology, and cultural political economy, CRiTICAL Lab approaches climate change not only as an environmental challenge, but also as a social, political, and economic process that reorganizes industries, territories, livelihoods, and everyday life.

Across different geographical contexts, we ask who benefits from green transitions, who bears their social and environmental costs, and how they are negotiated, resisted, or reimagined. By connecting global processes of capital accumulation and environmental change with situated experiences of work, dispossession, collective action, and social reproduction, CRiTICAL Lab seeks to understand both the contradictions of existing transition pathways and the possibilities for more just and ecologically sustainable futures.
